Holiday Task - write an analysis of a teen film you have watched

The film I watched during the winter holidays was John Tucker Must Die.

John Tucker must die is an american high school comedy teen movie about a trio of girls who plot to break the heart of the Jock, John Tucker after they find out he's been secretly dating them. This film contains a lot of themes and conventions that associate with the whole idea of 'teen films'.

The themes in this film are:
  • Love
  • Friendship
  • Hate
The three girls each have a different personality to match with stereotypical representation of a teen girl in a teen movie. The first girl on the left (Beth) is represented as the very 'flirty' girl who cant control her sexual desire. The girl in the middle (Heather) is represented as the 'popular cheerleader' the main girl of the group. The last girl on the right (Carrie) is represented as the 'nerd' as we see from her intellectual speech and her knowledge with devices and computers.

Kate (Brittany Snow) the main character out of the girls is portrayed as the 'quiet' and 'lonely' teen girl until she meets the three popular girls and tries to become one of them. At first, the three popular girls weren't so keen to hang out with Kate and only used her to get revenge on John. A friendship develops throughout the movie and Kate is not the 'Invisible' girl anymore.

John Tucker is the main guy, the 'Jock' a guy whose the best at sports, good looking, and everyone loves him. He soon falls in love with Kate who has been in on the plan to break his heart with the other girls, this is where hatred is portrayed as they humiliate him in the end in front of everyone.
