Audience task 2: analysis of 3 teen movies with different audiences
American Pie 2
Like any other teen comedy movie, American Pie has been known for its high level of humour and entertainment. The film has been targeted to teens as it includes a vast majority of what a 'Teen' is expected to do in their spare time; hanging with their friends, partying and just having a good time. The teen film is aimed at males as it shows exactly how most of the teen males behave. The film has a lot of themes in which a male would be entertained to watch; Girls, partying and sex. The film is about a group of college teens (boys) who after a long year of hard work decide to spend the whole summer together. Their main aim is to socialize with a lot of girls as they've not had many good experiences with the opposite sex and party as hard as they can in order to make it the best summer. The film is increasingly popular for its ability to have a mixture of different genres such as: comedy and romance all in one which therefore makes it more entertaining to watch.
17 Again
17 Again is a teen comedy starring star actors Zac Efron and Matthew Perry who both play the character Mike. Mike is a 37 year old man whose marriage is falling apart. He then wishes he could be 17 again and falls off a bridge into a magical river . He then wakes up to be as he wished but is freaked out about it. 17 year old Mike (Zac Efron) gets to relive the age 17. This film is packed with comedy and romance and is aimed for both genders. Films like this with romance eventually have a happy ending, and the dilemma is solved throughout the film with comedy scenes along the way.
Beastly
Beastly is a film which contains lots of romance and is particularly targeted at a wider range of the female audience as it contains themes such as love and passion. The film is about a boy (Alex Pettyfer) who had everything and thought that his looks meant everything to him and was therefore punished by a witch as she put a spell on him and was transformed into a 'Beastly' like person. The witch then told him that the spell would only wear off if he found someone that loves him for who he is and not because of his looks. He then finds this girl (Vannesa Hudgens) who falls in love with him. This teen film has everything a female is looking for in a film, true love with heartbreak along the way and eventually ending in a happy loving moment.
